What's new?
July 1, 2001:
Released QPlayer v1.4.3. This version adds Kabuki decryption support, which allows CPS-1 games using QSound to work.
What is this ?
GalEMU is a Galaxian hardware emulator. It's only goal is to adequately and accurately "emulate" the original Galaxian arcade board so that users can get the ROMs from their boards and play any game that uses Galaxian hardware on their DOS/Win95/Linux-based home PC.
How does it work ?
The Galaxian emulator is what we call a interpreting emulator. It works a little like the Java virtual machine of your browser, which interprets Java bytecode but instead it runs the CPU operands of the Z80 CPU which was the heart of Galaxian and several other arcade/computers of the time. It gets all the code and graphics from ROM dumps (Copies of the information contained in the original Read-Only Memory of the Galaxian arcade board).
What do I need to run this emulator ?
You have to meet the following requirements to be able to use GalEMU at full speed:
Pentium class processor at 90mhz (Although it will RUN on a 386)
8 megs of RAM
DOS or Windows 95 operating system
GalEMU executable (see download section)
The ROM set of the game you want to play
WE DO **NOT** PROVIDE ROM IMAGES !!! Those images are copyrighted to their respective manufacturers and it is illegal for us to provide them to you. You must either:
Dump the images from the original ROMs found on the arcade board
Get them already dumped (www.classicgaming.com has great resources :)
Any E-MAIL received concerning non-working ROM images, missing files, etc will be forwarded to the proper legal Agency (aka /dev/null), so be cool and find the ROMs yourself :)
